in 2019, McEniry heard about a SCHOOL being sold. The alumni bonded together to express their dissatisfaction. The seed of the idea for McEniry's novel came from this situation. Then when Goodson and McEniry auditioned for the same movie and neither got it, they decided to create their own project. Goodson asked to read the unpublished novel McEniry had written inspired by this situation and knew after reading, this story had to be adapted to screen.
