In 2004, Goodson left her small hometown in North Carolina and headed to south Florida as a theatre major at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Dr. Deborah White McEniry was the Chair of the university's theatre department, and became Goodson's theatre professor. The university rolled out A new apprenticeship program that year and Dr. McEniry asked Ashley to be her mentee which required Ashley to work on projects with Dr. McEniry and go to lunch once a week with her. The mentorship developed into a long-term friendship. with their wild similarities, They have always talked about playing mother and daughter in a PROJECT. in a missed that sound, they do just that as they play the roles of Olivia & Miranda Whitman.
